Station Procedures
General Duties for Everyone
- Stay alert to your area and the park in general.
- When not busy, straighten up your area and areas near you.
- Pick up any trash or debris.
- Any issue you see that need maintenance, let the Park Manager know.
- Limit cell phone usage.
- Check portable toilets near you periodically for toilet paper or any other issues.
- If your area is not busy, check on the areas that are unmanned (i.e., soccer, tricycles).
Park Manager
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Assign staff to stations. Confirm all areas ready for opening the next day. Confirm park is in order at end of day. Check tree area behind the big tent for limbs down or debris; request Maintenance to remove.
Safety Reminders
Interaction with customer: When customer is not following the stated sign rules: Politely say “No {action}, it’s for your safety.”
Below are examples: “No throwing corn, it’s for your safety.”; “Only one person per tube, it’s for your safety.”; “No climbing on the railings, it’s for your safety.”
Train
End of day check: ATV full of fuel. Tires have enough air. Confirm pin connections to barrels are connected. No debris/trash present; if so, remove.
Customer Process: Park train ATV in front of entry gate. Welcome customers. Open gate. Limit one person per barrel (unless adult with small child). Verbally give safety information to customers: “Stay seated, no drinks allowed, keep hands inside barrel.” Close gate. Once in ATV start engine and maintain no more than 4-6 mph. Go around track one time. Stay alert by looking back to make sure rules are being followed. Once stopped, open gate and inform customers to exit. If there is no line, customers can ride again. If there is a line, ask everyone to exit.
Bees
End of day check: Ride each Bee to make sure in working order. Confirm little white wheels next to track under Bees are all there and have no issues. Check handles are moving back and forth appropriately. Verify bumper is in place at both ends of each track. Confirm track looks good, no issues. Confirm hay bales are properly positioned for getting on/off Bees. No debris or trash present; if so remove.
Customer process: One person per Bee. Adult can walk beside child riding Bee. Inform customers to not go too fast. Assist customers getting ona nd off Bees if required.
If a Bee breaks, remove handle (one bolt). Tool is in the Silo. Keep bold and handle together! Don’t lose bolt. Put in the Silo.
Small Slide
End of day check: Confirm slides are clear of debris or weeds and remove as required. Look for anything sharp, etc. that could hurt someone. Check that entry and exit points are clear of any debris.
Digger Sand Area
End of day check: Make sure all diggers are working properly. Check sand for anything that could cause injury. Check for debris or trash and remove as required.
Jumping Pillow
End of day check: Walk around the pillow to confirm there are no holes. Check previous repairs to make sure they are still sealed. Check that sand around pillow is 5-inches high; adjust as required.
Process for customers: Maximum number of people on pillow at one time is 30. Show customers the rules sign. No shoes or flip-flops; put all in shoe containers. No excessive jewelry that could damage pillow. If broken or if you have to step away from the station (with no backup), rope off the entry.
Wacky Web
End of day check: Confirm ropes are attached to post and not touching the ground; if there are issues, let Park Manager know. Check post for any large splinters that could hurt someone. Make sure no debris or trash is present; if so, remove.
Wagons
End of day check: Confirm tires have wood blocks under each to keep it from moving. Confirm steps are in proper position. Check that seats are all clear and no tears in seat cushions. Check for debris or trash and remove as required.
Hill Slide
End of day check: Confirm no debris on slides, steps, etc. Confirm no holes in sandbags. Walk both stairways confirm no debris/issues and remove. Confirm outdoor grass in place and no debris/sticks near entry way. Slide down each slide – confirm nothing that could hurt someone is sticking out/catching on clothes, etc.
Eating Area/Tents
End of day check: Tables are clean. Trash cans empty. No ants. Covering/tents secure. No debris under tents and remove.
Tire Mountain
End of day check: Walk wooden perimeter-confirm nothing loose, no issues/nails exposed wood. No weeds in sand/play area, remove. Tires clear that are for crawling through. No metal from tire treads exposed/where someone could be hurt by them. No broken toys. Confirm no shallow sand spots. No debris/trash present, if so remove.
Swings/Any Wooden Structure
End of day check: Confirm no splinters, nails, screws, etc. are in positions that would hurt someone. All post firmly in ground. No screws holding swings, etc. coming loose. Check for wasps nests. No debris/trash present, if so remove.
Bubbles
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: All buckets filled (on busy days). A wand is in each bucket. Extra wands under bucket structure. Confirm if need refilling. No debris/trash present, if so remove.
Soccer Area
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm goals are upright and in place. Confirm netting is up/in place. Confirm no balls deflated. Confirm upper poles in place/secure. Enough hay in place. No debris/trash present, if so remove.
Mega Slide
End of day check: Confirm no debris on walkways, slides and remove as required. All tubes inflated properly. All tubes have center seat inside tube. All handles secure. Soap water in troughs. Wheels in good working order. Ride all lanes to confirm no issues. Confirm fire extinguishers in proper place on each slide. Confirm first aid kit present. Any damaged tubes remove from shed and all good tubes are stored in the covered building.
Process with customers (top of slide): Direct them to signs about height, other rules. Only one person per tube-Adults cannot hold children to ride!
No hats! Must enforce height limit! Once customers at top of slide help them get on by holding tube. Entry for customers on right for slide on right and left on slide on left. Lubricating tube twice. Place handle inside tube. Label on tube facing down towards end of slide area. If possible all arms/legs should be in the tube nothing hanging out. If not possible then legs should be held straight in front. Confirm no customers are in the slide lanes below before next customer allowed to start. Give small push to get tube started.
Process with customers (bottom of slide): Show customers rules sign. Help customers move out of way once at end of slide or if they didn’t make it all the way down help them walk out. Ask customers to return tubes to shed. People taking photos of those coming down the slide must stand behind the hay bales!
Rope Maze
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm all ropes in place and attached properly to posts. Confirm post are secure, no nails/screws exposed that could hurt someone.
Frisbee Golf
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Check holder are secure on top of post and no wobbling. Confirm 2 disc/frisbees in each holder.
Pick up Frisbees left on ground.
Corn Maze
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Walk maze at beginning and end of day. Confirm no trash or debris in walkways and remove as required. Check for vandalism.
Animal Corral
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm no deflated animals present. Check for debris or trash and remove as required. Check fence is secure and no nails, screws etc. present to hurt someone.
Basket Ball
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Check netting. Gates open to let balls back down. Balls inflated properly. Balls distributed evenly between the two goals/area. Pick up balls on ground and place them in hoppers or goals.
Putt Putt
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Make sure area is clean, no trash or debris on greens. Clubs laid out straight. Balls in basket.
Process with customers: No swinging the clubs; putting only. No throwing balls or clubs.
Corn Pit
End of day check: Confirm area is clear of debris/trash, remove if necessary. Check swings are secure. Cornhole has 4 bags to toss for each one. Check for wasps. Confirm fire extinguisher is in place. Cover corn pit at end of day and if raining.
Process with customers: No submerging heads in corn pit. No throwing corn. No eating corn. Infants must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Also, responsible for swings, corn hole game, putt putt.
Fire Truck
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Walk around area, check for trash or debris and remove as required. Doors are screwed shut, if you see them open, close them and notify Park Manager or Maintenance team. Walk on the top platform to confirm all is secure.
Climbing Wall
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm pads not loose. Check that hay bales are in place. Check for debris or trash; remove as required.
Chess Area
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Setup pieces in proper order. Check for debris or trash and remove as required.
Tricycles
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Check track for trash or debris; remove as required. Check all tires. Put bikes in rows near entry way. Make sure no tricycles are outside the track area.
Hamster Rolls
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm no trash or debris in area; remove as required; Test that each Roll is on tracks and working properly. Line all up at the starting point of the tracks.
Sand Area
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Check inside all little buildings for wasps nests. Walk border and confirm all securely in place. On wood areas and train, confirm no nails or screws are out to hurt anyone. All play things are upright. Confirm no inappropriate items in the sand. Check for urine or vomit and cover area (with a trash bag from Silo) until it can be cleaned up/ Notify Park Manager to contact Maintenance team.
Ducks
End of day check and ongoing throughout the day: Confirm all hand pumps are working. Confirm enough water in place or needs to be replaced if dirty. Check for trash or debris in water; remove as required; Spread ducks evenly in troughs. Confirm no ducks on ground. End of day put ducks in basket.
Silo
Opening: Restock snack racks/pickles and place in window. Check refrigerator for drinks restock/request more if needed. Turn on nacho heater. Slushie machines set to desired thickness (about 13) fill/refill if needed. Restock any other items as required. Sundays, empty/wash slushy machines. If a machine is 1/2 full or greater store slushy mix in 2.5 gallon jugs and place in refrigerator. Instructions for popcorn, kettle corn, slushies and doughnuts are posted in the Silo.
Closing: Clear window area of any merchandise. Restock all items as required (i.e. cups, snacks, nachos, etc.), turn off nacho heater, set slushie machines to 6. Wash pickle utensils, wipe down all surfaces, sweep floor. Put walkies on charging station, reset money bag to $200, run card machine daily report and turn off AC unit.
Paintball & Apple Cannon
Opening: Plug in air compressor/lights. Turn on master value on air compressor. Open gates, check guns safety are off, lids are closed and test one gun. Plug in cannons (uncover if necessary), open gates and test each cannon. Make up baskets of apples and cups of paint balls in all sizes. Make sure red building is closed/locked.
Closing: Put any unused apples/paint balls back in appropriate containers. Unplug cannons, close gates/ropes, put guns on safety, make sure lids are closed, unplug lights and air compressor. Make sure red building is closed/locked.
